The Omaha Police Department began using body-worn cameras on a trial basis in 2013 and the whole department began using them in 2016. The U.S. Department of Justice awarded $67,500 to the Omaha Police Department in 2015 as part of the Bureau of Justice Assistance's body-worn camera grant program.
