The Suffolk County Police Department announced in January 2023 that it would be installing ShotSpotter gunshot detection sensors in Bellport, Coram, Mastic Beach, Shirley, Bay Shore, Brentwood, Central Islip, Huntington Station, North Amityville, and Wyandanch.
