The Major Case Assistance Team operates two DJI drones as of 2018, according to data compiled by the Center for the Study of the Drone at Bard College. MCAT is comprised of officers from more than a dozen agencies in the Chicago area.

More about this technology

Drones are also known as unmanned aerial vehicles. Police remotely control these devices to surveil crowds from above or locations that would otherwise be difficult or dangerous to observe by a human on the ground.
